Lego & Clay Camp Dates:
June 25-29
July 2-6
July 23-27
July 30-August 3
August 20-24
Class size is kept to 6-8 kids. Camp is held for 4 different weeks this summer.
Kids use a large collection of legos to build Lego figures, cars, houses, airplanes, animals, and entire scenes. Building is easy because the Lego blocks are sorted by shape. That makes it fast to find just the right piece. Kids can sit and make their own creation, or they can use sheets and booklets of Lego directions for complex figures. Books about legos are at lego camp to wake up ideas. Anyone who likes to build will love Legos. And remember, Legos are not just for boys. Helga herself loves having another medium, in addition to clay, to build with.
Helga Motley is an experienced clay artist, working with the non-hardening plastilina clay. Using tools like a pasta maker, she sculpts entire scenes. Each kid can make a small clay scene on top of cardboard and take it home. Story ideas will come from the kids. (There is no clay animation class offered this summer. Maybe next year.)
The special Lego creations, and the clay scenes that the kids make, will be photographed by Helga (who is a professional photographer, too). The digital photos will be sent to each parent, and they can send them off to friends in an email, or make prints for the family album.
